It seems Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer Grimes isn’t convinced that Mark Zuckerberg is qualified enough to lead the Metaverse.
According to Page Six, she expressed her disdain at the tech mogul’s plans to expand the company formerly known as Facebook into a metaverse pioneer. Grimes feels he is “very underqualified” to pilot the ship.
Grimes, who has previously dated Elon Musk, criticized the Facebook founder’s Metaverse avatar by taking to Twitter, writing, “If Zuck ‘oversees the Metaverse,’ it’s dead and people who care about art and building are building.” culture give something different. This is also bad art,”
She had also shared the image of Zuckerberg’s metaverse avatar and, referring to it, Grimes wrote, “The quality of this image alone says about how vastly underqualified he is at building alternate reality, literally any indie game looks better.”
Mark Zuckerberg led a company-wide shift to the metaverse last fall, going so far as to change Facebook’s company name to Meta, as the controversial social media platform faces a string of scandals over its business practices and internal policies.
The image Grimes was talking about was posted to Facebook by Mr. Zuckerberg last week, but the response he got was far from what he had hoped for. Just days later, he shared another version of the avatar.
According to Page Six, Mr. Zuckerberg wrote: “I know the photo I posted earlier this week was quite simple, it was taken very quickly to celebrate a launch. The graphics in Horizon can do a lot more, even on headsets, and Horizon is improving very quickly.”
